Liquor consumers in the national capital can now skip physical store lines by reserving bottles online through a government-backed mobile application, though doorstep delivery remains completely prohibited under existing excise regulations.
The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) introduced the service via its dedicated platform, as reported by Aaj Tak. Designed to minimize counter crowding, reduce wait times, and bring greater transparency to inventory billing, the service allows buyers to browse cataloged brands, select a nearby government-run store, choose bottle sizes, and process digital payments before heading out for pickup.
How the Pre-Booking Process Works
Once a consumer completes the transaction on the app, the system generates a unique verification QR code. To collect the order, the customer must visit the designated DSIIDC liquor store within 48 hours of payment and present the digital code at the counter.
Store executives scan the token to dispense the allocated stock. If a customer cannot collect the order, the system permits cancellations before pickup. However, once the bottles are scanned and handed over at the counter, the sale is final, with no returns or exchanges permitted under retail excise bylaws.
Purchase Limits and Statutory Conditions
While the application introduces digital convenience, it strictly enforces standard Delhi excise laws. Users must meet the mandatory legal drinking age of 25 years to register and transact on the platform.

Operational Scope and Public Response
Delhi’s state-controlled liquor retail landscape operates across four government corporations managing over 700 retail stores citywide. At present, this online advance booking capability is exclusively live across the 208 retail vends operated directly by DSIIDC, leaving vends run by other corporations offline for now.
Excise department officials cited in the initial dispatch indicated that initial consumer adoption of the pre-booking facility has been modest. Authorities noted that further expansion of the service across the remaining state-run corporations will depend largely on consumer adoption metrics and operational performance over the coming months.
