MUMBAI — UltraTech Cement reported a 21.3% increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹1,501 crore for the second quarter, driven by higher operational demand and steady sales across its domestic markets, according to reporting by The Hindu — Business.
The financial results for the country's leading cement producer reflect an improvement in operational efficiency alongside higher production rates across its manufacturing network compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Domestic Sales and Volume Growth
A critical factor in the quarterly profit expansion was the performance of the company's core operations within the home market. During the quarter, UltraTech's domestic grey cement sales volumes rose 13.8% to reach 35.94 million tonnes, up from the volumes recorded during the same timeframe last year.
The volume growth highlights sustained off-take in regional markets, helping the building materials manufacturer maintain momentum despite broader seasonal factors that typically affect construction activity during the second quarter.
Plant Performance and Capacity Utilisation
Operational metrics also improved across manufacturing units during the three-month period. Capacity utilisation jumped to 71%, up from 66% reported over the same period last year, according to the data compiled in the report.
The five percentage point increase in plant efficiency allowed the producer to effectively manage higher output while supporting the double-digit rise in grey cement dispatches. The higher operational threshold indicates tighter asset utilization across UltraTech's domestic footprint, underpinning the quarterly advance in net earnings.
