Former Indian cricketer Ramesh Powar has been named to the Men’s Selection Committee, while Pragyan Ojha has been appointed to lead the panel as its chair, according to reporting by Accredited Wire Reports.
The administrative appointments bring two former national team bowlers into key talent-evaluation and squad-selection responsibilities for the men's setup. The committee is tasked with reviewing player performances, identifying domestic prospects, and finalizing national team squads across competitive formats.
Panel Leadership Transition
Under the new structure, Ojha will assume the duties of panel chair. The former left-arm spinner, who represented India across multiple formats during his playing career, steps into the leadership post to direct committee deliberations and coordinate with team management on strategic squad requirements.
His role will involve chairing selection meetings and ensuring consistent evaluation criteria across senior and emerging talent pools, as confirmed by the dispatch.
Powar Joins Selection Ranks
Powar's induction expands the committee with another seasoned international perspective. The former off-spinner has previously operated in major domestic and national coaching capacities following his playing days, bringing technical insight and recent coaching experience to the selection table.
Both appointees represented India on the international stage during their active playing careers. As the new committee takes shape, the panel will oversee upcoming squad selections in accordance with national fixtures and player availability schedules, based on details provided in the initial dispatch.
