Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has taken over as the chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's senior men's selection committee, succeeding Ajit Agarkar in the critical administrative role, according to reporting by Accredited Wire Reports.
Alongside Ojha's appointment to the top post, former national team off-spinner Ramesh Powar has also been integrated into the national selection panel, signaling a significant restructuring within India's cricket governance.
Leadership Transition in National Selection
The handover marks a notable leadership transition for the board's decision-making apparatus, which determines national squad selections across all formats of international cricket. Agarkar, who previously headed the committee, steps down as Ojha assumes primary responsibility for coordinating player assessments and roster assemblies.
Ojha, who represented India across international formats during his playing career, brings his domestic and international experience to the leadership position. The administrative move places the veteran slow left-arm bowler at the center of the board's strategic squad planning and bench-strength evaluation.
Reshaping the Senior Panel
Powar's addition complements the reconstituted panel with another seasoned international spinner. Powar has previously held prominent coaching and developmental roles within Indian cricket, having worked across various domestic setups and national assignments.
The combined inclusion of Ojha and Powar reshapes the technical expertise of the committee. The reorganized selection panel assumes immediate responsibility for monitoring player performance in domestic competitions and finalizing future Indian national squad selections across upcoming bilateral series and ICC events, according to Accredited Wire Reports.
