ABU DHABI — The Advanced Technology Research Council has been appointed as the United Arab Emirates’ first national representative to the International Science Council, according to an announcement reported by the Abu Dhabi Media Office (مكتب أبوظبي الإعلامي).
The designation marks a formal integration of the UAE’s primary research and technology oversight body into one of the world’s most prominent scientific organizations. By joining the body as the country's national representative, the council will engage with the global scientific community on shared research priorities and international scientific initiatives.
Global Scientific Representation
Under this appointment, the Advanced Technology Research Council assumes responsibility for representing the UAE's scientific interests, research institutes, and scientific community within the global non-governmental body. The International Science Council brings together international scientific unions and associations alongside national and regional scientific organizations, including academies and research councils.
The appointment aligns with the council's ongoing mandate in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE to build a competitive scientific ecosystem and elevate national technological output on the international stage.
Advancing National Research Agendas
As the national representative, the council is positioned to foster scientific collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and ensure that research originating from the UAE is connected to international scientific programs, as confirmed by reporting from مكتب أبوظبي الإعلامي.
The International Science Council works globally to catalyze scientific expertise, advice, and influence on issues of concern to science and society. Through this formal affiliation, the Advanced Technology Research Council will contribute directly to dialogues shaping international science policy, data sharing, and cross-border research frameworks.
