Smart home device maker Wyze has introduced a redesigned version of its flagship health monitor, shifting the display screen directly onto a retractable handle so users can view data more conveniently at eye level.
According to reporting by The Verge, the updated device, named the Ultra BodyScan Plus, builds on the foundation of the original Ultra BodyScan scale that launched nearly a year ago. The core appeal of the product line remains its ability to provide comprehensive health readouts across different parts of the body, but the new physical layout aims to improve readability during use.
Retractable Handle Redesign
The previous version of the smart scale required users to look down toward the floor while standing on the platform, even while utilizing the upper-body sensors. By shifting the screen to the top of the retractable handle, the Ultra BodyScan Plus allows individuals to view measurements in front of them without bending their necks or losing posture.
The hardware utilizes the handle's embedded electrodes to evaluate the user. When an individual pulls the bar up from the base, the scale measures metrics through both the feet and the hands simultaneously, providing a more detailed breakdown than standard footplate-only devices.
Segmented Body Metrics
The incorporation of sensors on both the base and the handle enables the device to measure health indicators across multiple zones, including the torso, arms, and legs. Wyze designed this multi-point measurement system to analyze body composition segment by segment, rather than relying on estimates extrapolated strictly from lower-body impedance.
The update reflects an ongoing effort among connected-fitness hardware makers to refine how metrics are delivered to consumers in real time. Wyze has not altered the primary multi-electrode scanning concept introduced in the original model, focusing instead on user interface ergonomics with the repositioned screen.
