A Special Executive Magistrate has extended the judicial custody of Citizens for Justice and Peace representatives Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka following findings that the pair violated legal undertakings, according to reporting by NDTV.
An official copy of the order obtained by the broadcaster detailed the grounds for continuing their detention. The magistrate ruled that both individuals failed to adhere to the legal commitments they had previously entered into with local authorities in the South-West District.
Findings on Bond Violations
According to the order accessed by NDTV, the Special Executive Magistrate observed that the two respondents had deliberately breached the formal bonds they had executed before the South-West District authority. The documentation showed that the bonds in question were submitted before the magistrate on October 11, 2026.
The findings determined that the actions taken by Das and Ranka directly contradicted the assurances provided under those signed instruments, prompting the magistrate to issue the extension of their detention.
Breach of Peace Determination
The magistrate further recorded that the respondents immediately committed the breach of peace in relation to the case shortly after the bond proceedings. This conduct formed the central justification for their ongoing custody.
Authorities have not released further operational specifics regarding subsequent proceedings or court dates, and the formal order stands as the primary legal basis for their continued judicial remand.
