A United States artificial intelligence laboratory named HUMXN has launched an initiative offering free home repairs and maintenance to residents in three major metropolitan areas, provided homeowners agree to data collection during the service calls, according to reporting by Times of India — Top Stories.
The program provides complimentary trade services, including plumbing and electrical work, to qualifying households. In exchange for the free labor, participating homeowners must allow technicians to deploy sensors that track and record their repair methods throughout the job.
Data Collection for AI Training
The primary objective of the repair initiative is to gather real-world operational data to assist in training artificial intelligence models. As technicians complete routine maintenance and complex repairs, the attached sensors capture technical movements, diagnostic procedures, and physical interactions within the home environment.
By recording human professionals executing skilled trades, the laboratory aims to develop datasets that reflect real-world problem solving in domestic settings. The resulting data will be fed directly into HUMXN's artificial intelligence development systems.
Targeted Cities and Eligibility
The service is rolling out across diverse housing environments in three initial target locations: Chicago, Minneapolis, and Miami. The selection of these distinct geographic markets allows the initiative to observe maintenance demands across different regional housing styles, infrastructure ages, and climate conditions.
Property owners and tenants interested in the complimentary services are required to verify their location and property qualifications beforehand. HUMXN has directed residents to review their qualification criteria directly through the dedicated HUMXN Free Home Service webpage before scheduling an appointment.
