PUNE — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has executed a major enforcement action in Pune, intercepting and seizing three tempo vehicles loaded with paneer, according to reporting by News18 Marathi.
The operation targeted the transport of the dairy product amid ongoing food safety checks conducted across the city. Authorities intercepted the consignments during transit after raising concerns regarding standard compliance and potential adulteration.
Interception of Dairy Consignments
Food safety inspectors halted the three tempo vehicles during standard regulatory surveillance. The vehicles were transporting large quantities of paneer into the local market. Acting on regulatory protocols, FDA personnel took control of the vehicles and the dairy products contained within them to prevent the stock from reaching local vendors and consumers.
The seizure represents one of the significant enforcement drives conducted by the agency in Pune recently, focusing heavily on dairy supply chains that experience high consumer demand.
Ongoing Food Safety Verifications
Following the seizure, regulatory officials initiated established procedural steps to inspect the confiscated paneer. The FDA routinely collects samples from intercepted consignments for laboratory testing to determine quality standards, moisture content, and the presence of non-dairy fats or unauthorized chemical additives.
Officials continue to monitor distribution channels across Pune to curb the movement of substandard food items, with further legal and administrative actions contingent on official testing outcomes.
