Fresh violence erupted across Manipur, leaving at least four people dead in separate attacks and clashes that prompted angry residents to carry victims' bodies directly to the chief minister's residence in protest, according to reporting by Accredited Wire Reports.
The unrest flared across multiple districts in the northeastern state, where renewed militant activity and communal confrontations led authorities to enforce emergency restrictions to prevent further escalation.
Protests and Fatal Clashes
In the wake of fatal attacks by suspected militants, residents transported the bodies of victims to the official residence of the Manipur chief minister, demanding accountability and swift action against those responsible. Reports indicated that three to four people were killed across the affected zones, sparking immediate public anger.
Clashes were also reported in Thoubal district, where one person was killed and several others were injured during confrontations. In response to the unrest, local administrators clamped prohibitory orders across Thoubal to disperse crowds and halt the spread of localized violence.
Administrative Action in Kamjong
Security tensions similarly flared in Kamjong district, where a Kuki civilian was killed and approximately 15 houses were torched in an assault attributed to suspected militants. Following the incident and the destruction of property, authorities ordered the transfer of the Kamjong superintendent of police.
Security forces have intensified patrolling across sensitive areas and maintained strict vigilance throughout the state as authorities work to contain demonstrations and stabilize regions impacted by the recent wave of attacks.
