A security alert unfolded at a Delhi Metro station after a Central Industrial Security Force personnel chased down and apprehended a non-resident Indian passenger who attempted to flee with a suspicious semi-solid substance, according to reporting by Accredited Wire Reports.
The incident took place at the Jama Masjid Metro Station when security screening equipment flagged an anomaly. Routine X-ray scanning of the passenger's belongings revealed a suspicious object, prompting security personnel to initiate a manual inspection.
Pursuit at Jama Masjid Station
Upon learning that the scan had detected the item, the passenger bolted from the checkpoint in an attempt to escape the premises. Station closed-circuit television cameras captured the dramatic pursuit as an on-duty CISF jawan immediately gave chase.
The security personnel tracked down the fleeing man outside or near the station perimeter before he could make a full exit into the surrounding area. The responder physically restrained the suspect and brought him back into custody without reported injury to other commuters.
Detention and Substance Examination
Following the capture, security officials detained the individual for detailed questioning regarding his actions and the contents of his luggage. Initial assessments indicated the passenger was carrying an unidentified semi-solid substance that had triggered the initial screening alert.
Authorities have taken the non-resident Indian into custody to determine the precise chemical nature of the recovered material and investigate why he chose to flee the checkpoint. Security protocols across the Delhi Metro network routinely rely on CISF personnel to intercept unverified materials before passengers access the platforms.
