NEW DELHI — Uncertainty continues to surround the release of detained leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka as legal proceedings face ongoing delays in the capital, according to reporting by Accredited Wire Reports citing accounts from Hindustan Times, The Hindu, Deccan Herald, and The Times of India.
Demonstrators and organizers have received no confirmation regarding the release of the two figures, prompting public reaction from associates. Activist Dipke addressed the ongoing standoff, stating that they will be anything but victims as legal scrutiny intensifies around the detentions.
Court Adjournments and Custody Requests
Das and Ranka, associated with Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), were produced before a magistrate as police formally sought an extension of their judicial custody. However, the scheduled bail hearing for the leaders was deferred after the presiding magistrate cited a threat to life, stalling further judicial deliberations.
The procedural postponement came as authorities evaluated custody terms, leaving the defense team waiting for a rescheduled hearing to address the formal bail application.
Allegations of Administrative Delays
Outside the courtroom, representatives for CJP have raised concerns over systematic roadblocks, alleging deliberate delays in securing the release of their leaders. A key point of contention involves the rejection of four sureties presented on behalf of the detainees, which has prevented the completion of standard release protocols.
Legal representatives and support groups continue to challenge the procedural hurdles as the detained leaders remain in custody awaiting their next court appearance.
