The Congress party has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party over alleged donation theft at the Ram temple, criticizing the ruling party's silence on the matter, according to reporting by The Hindu — National.
Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh raised sharp concerns regarding the handling of funds donated to the shrine, using the phrase chanda chori par chuppi chaayi to describe the administration's posture following reports of missing funds.
Demand for Public Accounting of Offerings
Ramesh demanded that a full accounting of all offerings presented at the Ram temple be made public. The opposition leader emphasized that transparency is required regarding the donations contributed by devotees from across the country.
The demand comes amid scrutiny over the financial management and internal safeguards overseeing the substantial volume of contributions received by the temple administration.
Calls for Full Accountability and Investigation
In addition to seeking financial disclosure, Ramesh insisted on a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. He urged that the roles of all responsible persons be thoroughly investigated to uncover the extent of the theft and identify any lapses in protocol.
Ramesh stated that no official should be spared accountability in the case, demanding that those overseeing the donations and premises face scrutiny if found negligent or complicit. The political opposition continues to press for administrative action as details regarding the incident emerge.
